Daily Prayers to help us walk in Jesus’ footsteps

In joyful expectation of his coming to our aid we pray to Jesus.

Come to your Church as Lord and judge. We pray for …

Help us to live in the light of your coming and give us a longing for your kingdom.

Maranatha:

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Come to your world as King of the nations. We pray for …

Before you rulers will stand in silence.

Maranatha:

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Come to the suffering as Saviour and comforter.

We pray for …

Break into our lives, where we struggle with sickness and distress,

and set us free to serve you for ever.

Maranatha:

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Come to us as shepherd and guardian of our souls.

We remember …

Give us with all the faithful departed

a share in your victory over evil and death. Maranatha:

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Come from heaven, Lord Jesus, with power and great glory. Lift us up to meet you, that with all your saints and angels we may live and reign with you in your new creation.

Maranatha:

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Come, Lord Jesus, do not delay;

give new courage to your people,

who trust in your love.

By your coming, raise us to share in the joy of your kingdom

on earth as in heaven,

where you live and reign with the Father and the Spirit,

one God for ever and ever.

Amen.

Reign in me, Sovereign Lord, Reign in me.

Captivate my heart

May your will be done

Establish there your throne

May your Kingdom come.

Reign in me, Sovereign Lord Reign in me.

Father God, I give you permission to go to any level within me to heal, cleanse and restore according to your truth.

To the best of my ability I invite you to be my Lord unconditionally. I say this because I know you want the very best for me. Thank you Lord God in Jesus’ name.  Amen

Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Lord Jesus,

I give you my hands to do your work.

I give you my feet to go your way.

I give you my eyes to see as you do.

I give you my ears to hear as you hear.

I give you my tongue to speak your words

I give you my mind that you may think in me .

I give you my heart that you may love in me your Father and all humankind.

I give you my whole self that you may grow in me so that it is you Lord Jesus who live, and work and pray in me. Amen

Lord may I be transformed through the renewal of my mind so that I will no longer conform to the patterns of this world but will know your good, pleasing and perfect will for me. Amen

A Prayer of Repentance Lord, penetrate these murky corners where we hide memories and tendencies on which we do not care to look, but which we will not disinter and yield freely up to you, that you may purify and transmute them: the persistent buried grudge; the half acknowledged enmity which is still smouldering; the bitterness of that loss we have not turned into sacrifice; the private comfort we cling to; the secret fear of failure which saps our initiative and is really inverted pride; the pessimism which is an insult to your joy. Lord we bring all these to you and we review them with shame and penitence in your steadfast light.

Letter from the Team Rector

Dear Friends

In the light of additional guidance received from the Bishop I am very sorry but we will not be able to provide refreshments at our services until further notice.  I would also remind people unless there is a medical reason we are asking people to wear masks. We are also asking people to socially distance in church and to take a lateral flow test before coming to a service.

As we continue this advent season of watching and waiting for the return of our Saviour, for those of you who have access to computers, tablets and smartphones I would like to commend to you a daily prayer app called Lectio365. The app has the facility to listen to the prayers and reflections as well as reading them and pausing for personal prayer. It is not onerous as the morning devotional is approx. 9 minutes, the night time approx. 7 minutes.  More importantly the devotions are really lovely and speak directly to the situation we find ourselves in each day as we prepare for Christmas.  I hope you find it a helpful aid in sustaining your daily devotions.

God’s blessings, Alessandra

Apologies, in light of the advice not to serve refreshments I am cancelling my ‘at home’ planned for Tuesday 21 December.  I will reschedule in the spring. Alessandra
